妈妈不在家之食谱(五十一):牛肉碎烤南瓜

我们食量小,买了半粒小南瓜,整个星期都好努力地在吃,今天必须把它给解决了。爸爸不在家,决定简简单单烤个南瓜当brunch。

我的迷人现摘菜心苗

材料:
牛肉碎适量
蒜米适量
南瓜一片
菜心苗少许
橄榄油


步骤:
淋上炒香的牛肉碎 
1. 把牛肉碎加一点maggie seasoning和现搅黑胡椒腌一腌。
2. 与此同时,把烤炉预热(200摄氏,5分钟)
3. 用橄榄油把蒜米碎爆香
4. 把牛肉碎大火稍微炒香,然后淋在南瓜上。(我懒惰洗盘,用aluminum foil包了起来)
5. 放入烤炉(200摄氏,20分钟)
6. 烤出来后撒上菜心苗
刚出炉的肉碎南瓜

撒上菜心苗就可以想用了

妈妈不在家之食谱(五十):香蒜杏鲍菇

最近玩杏鲍菇玩上瘾了。今天来个香蒜杏鲍菇(两人份)。


材料:
杏鲍菇两个,滚刀切
蒜米适量
小辣椒5条
葱(我家里没葱,用九层塔代替)
调味料:现搅黑胡椒少许、garlic salt少许


步骤:
把蒜米、小辣椒蓉、葱蓉爆香。
倒入杏鲍菇大火炒之。加入少许水和调味料继续快炒就行啦。

妈妈不在家之食谱(四十九):肉末南瓜

南瓜从来不会在我家中餐上出现,我也不明白为什么,问了也没答案。对于这我完全不熟悉的食材,我还真觉得好玩。原来中国南方普遍上爱用金瓜入菜肴,据说潮州人要考未入门媳妇厨艺就叫她煮个金瓜炒米粉。我还真没吃过呢,改天看看哪家潮州媳妇愿意弄给我尝尝。


懒人或者大忙人煮这个最简单了。

我把南瓜切了,放在微波炉里中火蒸四分钟,放一边备用。

另外,肉末加黑胡椒和少许盐腌一腌。

把蒜米爆香,然后加入肉末大火炒之。香味溢出后熄火把肉末淋在南瓜上即可。

(我以为南瓜不切皮摆盘比较好看,下次还是把皮给切了才蒸,吃起来比较方便。)

5 of Sheldon's Most Rhythmical Lines

Out of sudden, accidentally, I spent a weekend finished watching the Season 8 of The Big Bang Theory and I'm hooked all over again.

I must say, I love how Sheldon transformed. The writers made it so subtle that now we look back, Sheldon's character grow episode by episode, season by season since the introduction of Amy in the end of Season 3. Though I did not like how the way Amy's character developed in Season 4, the writers finally found the rhythm in Season 5, and since then, Sheldon's dynamic with Amy was adorable in a fascinating way. I love how Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik make these characters grow slowly, steadily and wonderfully.

So much so I want to write about how I feel about their romantic relationship (I do notice what happened in Season 9, where they finally 'joining the club of all of humanity'), or to talk about how well the writers planned for Sheldon's self-discovery and continue developing his social and interpersonal skills, I missed the neurotic guy in the earlier seasons (this is a sitcom anyway). He is stubborn, irritating and annoying (And yet, Jim Parsons successfully turned him into one of the most adorable characters in the fictional world), and he steals the show every time!

When they first started the show, they give us a fantastic character whose passion for science was the core of this existence. The writers worked very hard to put every possible imaginable nerdy awkward moment into Sheldon's character, and they always give him the best lines. Jim Parsons always speak it rhythmically and I missed that! I missed how Sheldon speaks as if he is singing passionately.

Here are some of the rhythmical lines that I love (limited to clips that I managed to find on Youtube):

1. Guess What Just Happened
- This is not only my favorite rhythmical lines, but also one of those scenes that defines Sheldon. His out of the world, childlike imagination makes him so adorable that no matter how much you were irritated by him, moments like this always make sure he immediately has surplus in the emotional bank account.




2. The Drake Equation
- Even during the days when we had to memorize a lot of formulas, we never able to say this the way Jim Parsons says it! As if he is reciting a poem.



3. Sheldon's Spot
- This is one of the famous quotes from The Big Bang Theory. Even Penny had a chance to say these lines a few seasons later. Still, Jim says it the best.



4. Sheldon Star Wars Fascination
- Sounds like a poem to a Star Wars fan :)



5. The Tall Man From Cornwall
- After all, this is a children's book adaptation

Interislander

看,多享受!
对我而言,Interislander自成一个旅游景点。说是渡轮,其实更像邮轮。

Interislander渡轮有着一个很大的露天席位让乘客欣赏美景和海风,如果你受不住阳光和冷风,室内当然也有很多座位。渡轮的室内设计简单新颖,里头有餐厅和小孩游乐区让大人和小孩们解闷,各个船舱都有电视机,还有一大片的玻璃窗让乘客一览窗外好风光。当然,如果户外太冷户内太闷,你还享有免费的快速无线上网呢。

由于我们一行有老有少,行李扛上拖下必定麻烦,所以我们才选择了Apex Car Rental。在纽西兰租车,并不是所有租车公司允许你驾租借的车子乘渡轮过另一个岛,所以租车时特别要注意。(另外,取车时必须取船票,否则恐怕会有麻烦。以我为列,在Queenstown取车时Apex的工作人员没有print船票给我,在check in时确实是花了些许时间。我运气好,负责check in的工作人员不介意到system检查资料再另外给我打印船票,否则就麻烦了)。

一早我们就驾车到Inter Islander Vehicle Check in (注意哦,汽车上渡轮和行人上都轮的入口是不同地方的,别去错地方了),大家车子排长龙让工作人员做检查,我就到一旁喝杯Havana Coffee慢慢享受好时光。车辆检查完毕,大家慢慢地把车子驾上渡轮。车子停放好后,报告员开始请大家离开停车处。大家井然有序地走到船舱去。

这约三小时的船程,带乘客穿越Cook Strait。我们运气好,阳光普照,海面平静……偶尔鸟儿在天空飞过、在海面掠过……






最幸运的是,还碰上一群海豚,大家都涌到甲板上,感觉像嘉年华一样。


若我再到纽西兰,我还是会选择乘渡轮渡Cook海峡。

妈妈不在家之食谱(四十八):Bake Vegetables




爸爸约了朋友,我的早午餐自己解决。于是决定弄个健康的brunch。


材料:
1. 紫色、橙色萝卜各一条 - 滚刀切
2. 小南瓜四分之一粒 - 切块状
3. 蒜头几瓣(依个人喜好),拍碎
4. 九层塔一把(一个人喜好),留几叶摆盘用,其余的切碎
5. 橄榄油


调味料:
1. balsamic vinegar
2. garlic salt 
3. 现搅黑胡椒


步骤
1. 把烤箱预先弄热(200摄氏,5分钟)
2. 把切好的菜都丢进烤盘里,倒入橄榄油、醋、盐、黑胡椒,稍微搅一搅。
3. 盖上aluminum foil然后把烤盘放入烤箱,用摄氏200,烤30分钟。


4. 在烤的当儿,煎了一块肉碎豆腐饼。(这次是improved version,可以成型了)


5. 另外,我早上间菜时弄了一小碟的菜心苗,洗干净了备用。


6. 三十分钟后,开了aluminum foil再烤五分钟。

7. 烤出来后,倒入碟里,放上煎饼,撒上菜心苗就行啦~

妈妈不在家之食谱(四十七):改良版肉碎豆腐煎饼

上个星期搞了个失败的肉碎豆腐煎饼,今天再尝试一遍。

原料
材料:
豆腐
肉碎(与豆腐同等分量)
洋葱半粒
蒜头三瓣
小辣椒两条
一大把九层塔
鸡蛋(打散)
面粉两茶匙
调味料:麻油、酱油、现磨胡椒、garlic salt



用布把豆腐裹起来,榨干


步骤:
1. 把鸡蛋打散备用。
2. 把洋葱、蒜头、小辣椒、九层塔,全部切成蓉。
3. 把豆腐用布裹起来,然后把它榨干。
4. 把豆腐、肉碎、洋葱蓉、蒜头蓉、小辣椒蓉、九层塔蓉、面粉、调味料全加入容器里搅拌均匀(我用tupperwear作为搅拌容器,以便可以把没用完的收入冰箱)
5. 把第4步骤里搅拌好的肉末搓成型,下锅前沾一沾蛋散,然后中火煎之。

这一次,成型啦~


Orchid Plant Arrangement

An old friend of mine moved into her new house recently. We have known each other for almost 20 years. We signed up courses together, went to gym / yoga together, learned to cycle together, traveled together.... So when she told me that she finally had to throw away the clay orchids that we learned to make years back, I decided that I must make her a orchid plants arrangement. 

I use Earth Star as my decorative plants

To my surprise, this DIY project is much easier than I imagine. Here's how:

1. Material
    a) 2 or 3 orchid plants (best if they are same species or at least same colour tone)
    b) pebbles
    c) a nice pot / vase
    d) some ribbons or cloth for decoration purposes
    e) some decorative plants as base if you like

2. Steps
    a) remove the plant from the temporary plastic container (I think most of the orchids sold in Malaysia are in this form)


    b) place the plants in the pot / vase to pre-decide the main frame of the arrangement

    c) place the pebbles in the vase / pot

    d) place the orchid plants into the pot / vase. Hold them into the desired position and pour in the small pebbles to hold them in place.

    e) add in the earth stars to make the base more interesting.

    f) since this is a present, I added a satin ribbon as final touch.

妈妈不在家之食谱(四十六):咸蛋黄炒杏鮑菇

我爱杏鮑菇‘肉肉’的口感。冰箱内还有一粒咸鸭蛋,今天就来个咸蛋黄炒杏鮑菇吧。超简单的!

材料:
1. 杏鲍菇两个
2. 两瓣蒜头剁成蒜米
3. 咸蛋黄一个
4. 调味料(我用garlic salt)


步骤:
1. 把杏鲍菇切成块。
原想滚刀切的,刀工太差,不伦不类了

2. 锅里把猪油给热了,然后倒下切好的杏鲍菇大火快炒。炒香后取出放一旁备用。(我最喜欢蔬菜介于熟透与不熟之间的状态,所以杏鲍菇不可炒太久,要保有里头水分)

3. 再下点猪油,热了把蒜米爆香,然后把咸蛋黄放入炒散,加点garlic salt。最后加入刚才干炒的杏鲍菇再大火炒至金黄即可。

由于个人特别喜欢杏鮑菇‘肉肉’的口感,又特别喜欢咸蛋黄入菜肴的香味,所以我个人很喜欢这个简单炒法。下次用两粒咸蛋黄应该更好吃。

妈妈不在家之食谱(四十五):肉碎拌菜

由于时间的缘故,今天两道菜都用了微波炉蒸器

把金针菇和西兰菜花放入微波炉,用中火蒸一分钟后取出金针菇,继续多一分钟半西兰菜花蒸熟。

另一边,肉碎加入一点儿麻油、蒜头黑胡椒调味料(garlic pepper seasoning)和酱油稍微腌一腌。

平底锅内加一点油,弄热,把洋葱丝和小辣椒蓉爆香,然后加入肉碎。

肉炒香后淋在蒸好的金针菇和西兰菜花上。要吃时拌一拌就行啦~
